FDR Redux: New Deal for a New Economy Act
While commentators and wound-up talk show hosts chew, regurgitate, and then re-chew the now-macerated issue of health care reform, the spend-it-all Congress is running to the outside, about to do an end-run around all of us and score one for the new era progressives, a big one. The House is working to pass H.R. 4290: New Deal for a New Economy Act. If passed, this bill will spend $60 billion dollars: Read more »
Glenn Beck and the End of Questioning with Boldness
Glenn Beck has said things that puzzle me, like when he compares himself to Thomas Paine, and then in the same breath calls President Obama a socialist. Apparently, no one told Beck that Thomas Paine was a raving socialist, and his collegues at the time thought he was a complete lunatic. Even so, I watch Glenn Beck when I can, not because I always agree with him, but because he is wildly entertaining, mildly informative, and sometimes thought provoking, And even if I disagree with him, I admire his admonitions of "Question with boldness." Make that his former admonitions. These days, things have changed at the Glenn Beck show. Questioning with boldness is so yesterday. Read more »
Daylight Saving Time: The Joke's on Us
It's the Europeans' fault. If it weren't for their poor work ethic, Americans wouldn't have to put up with the Government-mandated ritual of time change twice a year. In fact, it was the laziness of the French that first inspired Benjamin Franklin, American Patriot and all-around good guy, to suggest to the French that maybe, just maybe, if they pulled their wine-soaked selves out of bed before noon, they would get more work done. That way, they could earn more money and pay less for candles and oil to create light to work by in the evenings. Now, for most Americans, then and now, this just seems obvious.

USDA Warns American Agriculture is Infested with Diseased Animals
"The agriculture animal industry faces increasing challenges from animal diseases, reduced fertility, low nutrition and growth and non-tariff trade barriers." That's what Roger Beachy, Director of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), said February 2nd as he announced $24 million in grants. "These grants will help the United States maintain a strong, internationally-competitive animal agriculture industry and lead to safer and more affordable animal products." You have to love how warm and fuzzy that sounds. Who isn't in favor of safe, plentiful, inexpensive food? Well, let's start with the USDA, the largest proponent of disease and filth in the animal agriculture industry. Read more »

A Salute to Hate Mail
We get hatemail here at RFD America on occasion. The vast majority of whiners lament our point of view and claim we are rabidly anti-government. But they have something else in common. The writers are racists and proud of it. Check out the following from our pal Bruce Martin: Read more »
The Terrorist Farmer: Why Janet Napolitano is right
When the DHS released the report titled Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, conservatives learned we are being targeted by the federal government, singled out as likely to commit heinous acts against people and property. The April 2009 report highlights another group that worries officials: American family farmers. And the truth is, if history is any indication, the report is dead-on accurate. Read more »
